...the wedding flowers journey and the florist.....

The Job of a Wedding Floral Designer/ Decor is a Labor of Love and an Honor!

Each and Every Wedding is Unique and Different! Every Bride has a different Style, Theme, Color Scheme, Size of Wedding, and Budget.

Just in case you ever wondered how it works....
This Journey begins with the Consultation and an Adorable Bride. Many ideas are exchanged...Colors and Style are decided...Number of Bouquets, Bouts, Corsages, Ceremony Decor, and Table Centerpieces are determined....and the journey starts.
After the Consultation, the florist(me) prepares a Proposal (takes about an hour +/-) which includes Everything that was discussed at the Consultation. It is then sent to the Bride (along with photos of all the types of flowers and ideas she showed interest ) for review and any changes that need to be made......once it is finalized and the retainer is received....the Date is Booked!
One month before the Wedding ....after double checking with the Wholesale Florist about shipping, pricing, condition of flowers, any issues that may change flower choices, etc....the flowers are ordered!

The weeks before the wedding all Vases that are being used....usually around 38 - 40 .....are Cleaned and Sparkly.... and any Special Attachments/Crystals/ Fabric are put in place...Re-boxed. and separated for loading into the Delivery Vehicle.....along with all Ribbon, Oasis, Pins, Tape, Pipe Cleaners, Wire, Votive Fillers, and Supplies that need to be replenished according the Design of the Arrangements....!

The start of the Wedding Week begins with reviewing every single detail and going over it again with my Bride and fellow Designer! Then we begin the tedious process of Inspecting & Cleaning each and every Rose, Spray Rose, Hydrangea, ...etc...( average wedding can be 300+ roses...that's not counting everything else). This process can take many hours....and produces a lot of mess to clean up before the end of the day!!!
All the Flowers are kept in a Floral Cooler and Special Water Solution for their extended life.....each are also sprayed with a Special Formula to help them stay Hydrated after they are removed from the water and cooler on the Wedding Day!
NOW the Designing begins!...Any and All invisible structures needed for a particular design are assembled...and the Flowers are meticulously put into place....Creating the Dream Design of the Bride....sometimes 20 - 30 Centerpieces...8 - 14 Bouquets...8 - 14 Bouts...Flower Girl Petals...4 Mom/ Grandma Poseys....2 Large Ceremony Arrangements/ Arch Decor....and 4 - 12 Chair Decor/ Flowers......!! The completion of all these can take up to 3 days!!!
After Designing, All Bouquets are kept in their own individual glass cylinder vase for the duration of their journey....and are Delivered in the same vases for their fresheness....All Flowers are re-hydrated and kept in the Floral Cooler....and watched carefully!!

IT'S TIME!! Wedding Dreams Delivery Day.....!!!
We re-check all flowers...Load Everything, and off we go!  First, to the Church and then to the Reception Venue!!
Upon Arriving at the Church/Venue we Unload Everything!!  and begin to put all the pieces to the puzzle together with intricate and deliberate action until The Dream is Completed!!!
We love seeing it all come together!!

however,
our day is not over...Part B begins....
.....WE COME BACK at the end of the Night and Pack Up ALL the HardScape and make sure the Bride's Family has all of the flowers for their enjoyment!
Then.....we go home....happy to have been a part of our Bride's special day!
Thank you to all those who allow us to be a part of their Dream!! It is an honor!

Making Dreams Come True....

making dreams come true.....
I love meeting with new brides and hearing their ideas....and seeing all the pictures of what they want for their dream wedding!
...but there are times I have a sweet girl who has seen all kind of ideas in books, magazines, and websites that give the illusion that these ideas are both inexpensive and easy....
...many times that just isn't so!
I just want to take a minute to share some of my ideas I've used for giving a bride her dream look.....without the $$$$ price tag.
Many wedding sites show flowers that can be costly and seasonal.  One that all girls love is the Peony.  Peonies are gorgeous and they produce a lovely, fluffy, and full look for a bouquet.  What  publications don't always tell a bride is that it is only available for a very short season in the spring and is costly....
I've found there are some other options for that same look that can help with the price of bouquets and centerpieces!...
The first flower shown is the Peony.....the ones below it are alternatives that create that same fluffy and full look....for less money and are available all throughout the year!
Peony

Alternatives....

Large Mum

Esperance Rose// Russian Cut

Mondial Rose

Carnations

Large Mums

Alstromeria

Sometimes just using a few of the favorite Peony flower mixed with these alternatives can still give the romantic and full look you wanted...and still be budget friendly!

Here is another flower...Stephanotis...a timeless classic that can be costly and temperamental.  It's alternative is called Bouvardia.  They look almost identical!!

Bouvardia

Another Gorgeous Flower is the Coral Charm Peony....
Alternatives for it are the Juliet Garden Rose and the Amsterdam Traditional Rose...Even the Coral Spray Rose, Ilse is a wonderful full flower choice!

Juliet Garden Rose

Amsterdam Rose

Coral Spray Roses.....aren't they Fabulous!!

Ranunculus are a very popular flower!
Sometimes they can be more than a Bride wants to spend.  Take a look at the option of the fully open Spray Roses below....beautiful!!
